The White House
The White House
The White House is an iconic symbol of the U.S. presidency and an important center of political power in the United States.
The White House is the official residence and workplace of the President of the United States. Located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington D.C., the White House is a historic building that has served as the home of every U.S. president since John Adams in 1800.
The White House complex includes the Executive Residence, the West Wing, the East Wing, and various support buildings and gardens. The Executive Residence is the main building where the President and their family reside. It includes the Oval Office, the Cabinet Room, and various other offices and living quarters.
The West Wing is where the President's senior staff work, including the Chief of Staff, Press Secretary, and National Security Advisor. The East Wing contains the offices of the First Lady and her staff, as well as the White House Social Office, which plans and hosts official events.
The White House is a popular tourist attraction; however, access to the complex is restricted and tightly controlled for security reasons. The White House is also the site of numerous official functions and events, including state dinners, press briefings, and meetings with foreign leaders.
